Community Storytelling Workshops

On April 10th and 14th, the Steel Valley Arts Council will be sponsoring a free storytelling workshop, as well as a spoken word event on April 16th and 17th at ArtSpace 105, 105 E. Eighth Ave in Homestead. Both events will center around work and identity in our region. There will also be a 30 minute presentation on the changing face of labor in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Parents and relatives are greatly encouraged to bring older children to the events and to share stories about work and their families. GO LaQuan!!

As you may have already heard, LaQuan Deen won a trip to Wrestlemania.

He was there this past weekend and he won ringside tickets! Not all Wrestlemania finalists were lucky enough to sit ringside at Wrestlemania, only 3 teens had that honor!

LaQuan had all these opprotunities because he participated in the Wrestlemania Reading Challenge at our library. 1,800 libraries accross the country partcipated in the contest. We are
so proud that LaQuan represented our library in this contest!

LaQuan is a finalist in the Wrestlemania Reading Challenge!


LaQuan, a teen who comes to our library often, is a finalist in the Wrestlemania Reading challenge! The contest was sponsored by the WWE and YALSA. LaQuan will be flying to Phoenix Arizona to compete for ringside tickets to WWE. He also won the library money to be spent on teen books! (Thanks LaQuan!)To become a finalist, LaQuan read 10 books, created a bookmark and made sure Miss Emily sent it in on time! :)

The Coffee Hour

This is a time for adults to come to the library for some caffeinated

chitchat about a variety of topics!

Meetings will be held on the second and third tuesday of the month.

Starting March 16th, 2010 from 1:30-2:30 in the adult reading room.

We'll bring the coffee if you bring the conversation!
