Celebrating Libraries Everywhere

Last week we celebrated National Library Week! Big thanks to all those who

participated in our poster signing. We appreciate all the nice comments about the

library and services from our patrons.
Here's what some people said to our posted question "Why do we love the library?:

"Library means to me books, books and more books!

"I simply love everything about the library"

"Love getting new best-sellers through request [and] staff is always so nice!"

"My grandmother used to tell me stories about the times she went to the Homestead Library in the 30s. What a great history"

Thanks again to all those who participated. It's truly you that make the library a great place to be. You still have time to leave a comment or two on our poster, as Library Week continues through this Tuesday, April 17th.

As always, happy reading!

Come join us in the library and celebrate what you LOVE most about the
library and services it offers.
Reminisce about your childhood days spent in the children's room or about a
good fiction book you picked up in our reading room!
Make sure when you stop in to sign our WHY I LOVE THE LIBRARY poster and to
include a caption of what the library means to you!

Cookies and Books: Their Eyes Were Watching God Book Discussion

BIG thanks to those who participated in our book discussion
last week. On March 27th the Carnegie Library of Homestead book group, in partnership with CCAC and the Big Read in Pittsburgh campaign, had a lively discussion about the classic novel "Their Eyes Were Watching God" by the talented author Zora Neale Hurston. Amidst chocolate goodness, we talked about the social impact of Hurston's final novel and the main character, Janie's struggle as an African American woman growing up in everglades of Florida. To the say the least, we had a blast!

We hope to continue offering book discussions to public in the near future. If you would like to join one of our meetings, please express your interest at the circulation desk.

Happy reading!
